Health Eating

Today, I have abstained from diet sodas. They aren’t good for your body or your brain, but I enjoy having a carbonated beverage, for sure. I thought about looking into at-home carbonation methods to make my own sparkling waters. Maybe more on that later.

Breakfast

Water

This morning, I mixed up my water:

  • 4 cups of water
  • 5 grams creatine
  • 1 scoop electrolytes
  • 3 grams HMB

Coffee

A lot of strong Dazbog espresso bean coffee:

Protein Shake:

  • About 16 oz plain soy milk
  • 2 scoops of Garden Life Chocolate (not pictured) Sport Vegan protein powder

Lunch & Dinner

The scale has crept up 5 pounds, which is normal considering I’m in week 2 of starting creatine, but I know I’ve also eaten outside of my calorie range yesterday so I need to be mindful of what I am eating today.

I need to go grocery shopping as the fridge is kind of empty. I do have a lot of canned salmon, some brown jasmine rice that has already been cooked in the rice maker, and frozen spinach. From those, I made a salmon spinach bowl complete with olive oil, salt, and lime juice. I put lime or lemon juice on all of my veggies and fish. Next time I make this, I’ll consider trying it with creole seasoning.

And more coffee!

If I get to feeling like I need dinner, then I’ll figure out something healthy. I might make another protein shake but add some ground oatmeal to it to provide some bulk. And maybe some cherries to help me sleep. On second thought, I should probably just plan to make a smoothie before bedtime so that I don’t go to bed starving.

Taking it Easy

Tasks in Short Bursts

I had a pretty good morning. I woke up at 0400 and did the following:

  • Latin flash cards on quizlet
  • Divine Mercy Chaplet Prayer
  • Read Seneca’s letter On Being (on which I want to write a more researched paper in the future)
  • I showered!
    • I hadn’t showered during my mania from Monday to Thursday.
    • Two showers in a row feels nice
  • I cleaned my trashed kitchen as I didn’t have the energy to do it last night.
    • Took out the garbage
  • Took my dog out
    • He has an upset stomach so no food for him until this evening.
  • Fed the fish.
  • Napped for an hour until my daughter frightened me awake by pulling the blanket off my head.
  • Watched the movie Archive 2020
    • I love the scenery and isolation of the movie and soundtrack.
    • It is very low on the stimulation scale.

Family Time & Mass

I know I need to clean more since I’m having dad over to the apartment tomorrow for jambalaya, but I feel exhausted. I probably won’t attend mass this weekend since I’m still in early recovery and it could be too much for me right now.

Later Today

I need to get some groceries and take my daughter to pick up her meds. I will probably rest and watch the last two episodes of season 3 The Summer I Turned Pretty since my daughter likes that show.

Right now, I’m going to rest.
