Lay Your Hands on Me

God’s Healing Touch

This morning, I woke up at 0345 which was well before my 0400 alarm. Caught up writing messages to friends. Tried to read a bit, but felt tired.

Haven’t eaten yet. Need to do that soon. Probably having a very delightful protein shake.

I haven’t felt like myself for a long time. Recently someone came into my life and reminded me of a time when I was more innocent and happy. For that, I’m grateful.

When I was a kid, about 8 years old, I had an old Emerson radio with a hanger for an antenna. Once my family was asleep, I would get up and very quietly listen to late-night radio shows that played more diverse types of music than what was played during daylight hours. From those shows, I created mix tapes. Songs like “Lay Your Hands on Me” by the Thompson Twins caught my attention early in life.

Thankfully, I happened upon this song at just the right time. I’ve been feeling cold and tired about life. And I’ve really needed God to touch me and help me see that I can overcome my challenges. If you haven’t heard this song, it is on YouTube probably. I’ll post the lyrics below. It is now my song for God, and I’d hope that if I ever am in a relationship, the song will be special to my partner. Or, at least, he would understand why I so deeply feel this song.

Lay Your Hands on Me | Thompson Twins | 1984

Verse 1]
This old life seemed much too long
With little point in going on
I couldn't think of what to say
Words just vanished in a haze
I was feeling cold and tired
Yeah, kinda sad and uninspired

[Pre-Chorus]
When it almost seemed too much
I see your face and sense the grace
And feel the magic in your touch

[Chorus]
Oh, lay your hands
Lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands (Woo-hoo)
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands

[Verse 2]
Back and forth across the sea
I have chased so many dreams
But I have never felt a grace
That I have felt in your embrace
I was tired and I was cold
Yeah, with a hunger in my soul

[Pre-Chorus]
When it almost seemed too much
I see your face and sense the grace
And feel the magic of your touch

[Chorus]
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Lay your hands, woo
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands, oh

[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]
You know make me feel so good
Yeah, like I never ever thought I would
You know you make me feel so strong
And now our laughter just goes on and on (and on)
So c'mon lay your hands on me
'Cause close to you
Is where I really wanna be

[Pre-Chorus]
And if it ever gets too much
I see your face and sense the grace
And feel the magic in our touch
[Chorus]
Oh, lay your hands
Lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands (Woo hoo)
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands
Ooh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands (Woo)
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands
Oh, lay your hands on me
Oh, lay your hands

Morning Walk

This morning, I walked for an hour and took in all the sights of spring and nature. Listened to music. Felt alive. Felt happy. I once wrote on a photo, “Always marry a duck less attractive than yourself. It works for ducks. Not for people.” What da hell?! was I thinking.

Conclusion

This morning has started well. I still need to do an upper-body workout since I’m having pain and I think it will help with that.

First: Protein shake. I’m starving. I’m losing weight though so that makes me feel happy and motivated to keep going.

Yesterday, my contact lenses arrived in the mail. I feel so happy about that! I’ve been wearing glasses a lot and they are heavy; I’m pretty sure that is what has been causing TMJ pain and headaches. I feel all new and sparkly in my contacts. Though, to save money I got the regular contacts instead of multifocal ones so now I have to wear readers. Getting to be an old lady.

Parting Thoughts

Sometimes we can push against God or ignore God. Sometimes God has to barge in on us and push us off self-destructive paths. I am grateful for the push that I once resented, and I hope to keep on healthier paths for much time to come.

So, if you are feeling like you are tired and can’t go on living the way you’ve been living, let God touch you through whatever brings you peace and harmony. Through a song, nature, or in the people you meet. Isolating oneself to avoid pain is unhealthy and leads to loss of spiritual depth. It also feels like a living death.

Thank you for following and have a day blessed with God’s touch, through the art and world around you.
